TOURNAMENTS & PLAYING

How to play

To play at King.com, you enter a tournament where you compete against other real players. Tournaments have different entry costs, which is the cost that you commit to by entering into the tournament. The entry cost comprises of two parts and will be deducted from your account as you enter the tournament. Therefore, you need to have enough money in your account to cover the entry cost to be able to play. To see what your entry cost comprises, check out the different tournament types below. King.com also offers Free tournaments to Gold players, that allow you to play for free.

The winner of a tournament is the player with the highest score and is decided when the tournament has closed. Some tournaments close at a given time and others close when a certain number of participants have joined. Check out the different tournament types to understand the difference between tournaments. In progressive tournaments you can enter more than one time, but only your highest score will count towards a win.

When the winners are decided, the prizes will be awarded to the winners as a deposit directly into their accounts. Prizes can be cash and/or Jewels depending on your player status. Note that for most, you will be notified by a site message as soon as the tournament is over, and the winner(s) have been decided. In most tournaments, the prizes are defined from the start, but for progressive tournaments the prizes increase until the tournament finally closes.

When you win a tournament, the winnings are posted to your account immediately!

Member Tournaments

Member Tournaments are open to new players to help them understand how the tournament system works and will allow you to play against other Members for jewels. You will be able to try out our games and understand the mechanics of cash based skill gaming. You can also use them to get better at your favourite games before becoming a Gold player. Only Members can participate in Member tournaments and all players are considered to have the same skill level. As a Member, you are limited to this tournament type.

Free Tournaments

Free tournaments do not have an entry cost, and you can enter at no cost to improve your skills or just try a new game. You will still face other players of your own skill level when you play Free tournaments, and winners will be declared as usual. They are only open to Gold players.

Cash Tournaments

A Cash tournament has a fixed number of player entry slots and closes when all the slots have been filled. A 5-player cash tournament requires that 5 players join it before it closes and the winner is decided. As soon as a cash tournament is closed, a new one will begin, so there are always open Cash tournaments. The time needed until a Cash tournament closes varies from game to game and with the size and entry cost of the tournament.

The number of players and the size of the entry cost in a Cash tournament will vary from tournament to tournament. Use the tournament listing for each game to select a tournament that matches your preferences. We require that there are at least 2 different players in a specific tournament, so that you will always face another player and not just compete against yourself. You can join the same tournament more than one time if you wish if it has more than 2 slots, but only your highest score will count.

Your entry cost for a Cash tournament comprises of two elements; Firstly, approximately 75% of the entry cost is your stake for that particular tournament. So, if a game has 2 players, and the entry cost is £0.35 each, each stake will be £0.2625 i.e. a prize of £0.525. Secondly, the remaining 25% of the entry cost comprises our fees for providing the facilities for playing the game. We charge this fee to be able to guarantee you the best possible quality and game experience.

Progressive Jackpot Tournaments

Progressive Jackpot Tournaments have an unlimited number of participants and end at a preset time. Usually they run as a daily, weekly or monthly tournament, with the determined ending time listed in the tournament description. All times are presented in the same time zone as your current computer setting.

The prize of a Progressive tournament increases with every new player entry, which makes the jackpot grow over time as the tournament runs towards its closing time. In line with Cash tournaments, approximately 75% of each player's entry cost is their stake which goes towards the Progressive tournament jackpot, and 25% comprises our fee for providing the facilities for playing the game. Usually you can enter multiple times if you wish but only your highest score counts. The number of winners is also decided by the number of unique players and will grow as the number of participants increases. As a rule of thumb King.com gives the top 33% of players a prize in a Progressive tournament, but the prize division for each tournament gives you the exact status.

Notifying the winner

After you win a tournament, you will receive an email within twenty minutes notifying you of your winning position (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place) and cash prize amount unless you have turned e-mail notifications off. Also, at any time after you have completed a tournament game, you may select the "My Account" link and then select "Completed Cash Tournaments" to see the results of your tournament.

Finding tournaments results

In the "My Account" section you can find detailed information about all the tournaments you have competed in. Tournaments where the winners have not been decided yet are listed under the "Open tournaments" section. Use this to check out the current tournament standing.

In "Completed tournaments" you can find all tournaments you have participated in that have closed and see who the winners were. Tournament prizes are automatically credited to the players' account a few minutes after a tournament has completed.

One tournament – many winners

King.com's winner system allows for more than one winner in larger tournaments, although each player may only hold one position. Usually players are welcome to enter in tournaments as often as they wish (except 2-Player Tournaments). However, only the highest score for each player will be used to determine the winners of each tournament. In the event of a tie, the cash prize will be divided equally among the winning players.

Before you enter into a tournament you will always see the current division of prizes and the number of winners on the tournament entry page. As a rule of thumb the top 33% of the players in a tournament will receive a prize.

Claiming your prize

You do not have to do anything to claim your prize. When you win a tournament, the designated prize amount is automatically deposited into your King.com account. Your individual account status is available at any time by clicking the "My Account" link, which is located on every page.

Getting your winnings

King.com will post your prize winnings to your account within 15 minutes after it has completed. Note that jackpot tournaments will allow players to join until the last closing second, so the tournament might not close until 15 minutes after tournament's announced closing time.

Tournament ending times

King.com presents the ending time for all tournaments in the tournament descriptions. Limited Entry Tournaments close within 30 minutes of the last person's entry into that tournament. So for a tournament with a defined closing time, like a Progressive jackpot tournament, as long as you entered the game before closing time, your game will still count. If you enter a tournament but never begin game play, your full entry cost may be refunded to your account. If you are unable to finish a tournament within the time allowed, your entry cost is non-refundable.

Tournament completion problems

King.com will always strive to offer an as reliable service as possible, but due to the nature of network computing, hardware, software, dial-up connections or network devices your game delivery may be interrupted or not even properly initiated. Such failures include, but are not limited to, failures of the server, server software, service provider connections, client computer, client connections, client browsers or other devices, physical or otherwise that may or may not be used in the serving, delivery, distribution and execution of the game. Due to the nature of King.com's service individual users' game entries cannot be undone once processed. Any failures, as mentioned above, or on the part of the user will result in a score of 0 being reported for the entry.

When game completion and delivery fails King.com will always examine the problem to try to define the cause. In case the cause is determined, with certainty, to lie within King.com's area of control, King.com has the option to add non redeemable game credits to the users account as a refund up to the equivalent cash costs paid by the player. It should be noted that the game credits are not real cash.

Open and Completed tournaments

When you look at your account pages in the "My account" section you will find a list of your Open and Completed tournaments. An Open tournament is a Cash or Free tournament that still needs more participants to fill the slots, or a Progressive tournament that has not reached closing time. Therefore, the final winners have not been decided yet and prizes have still not been given out. You can view the current tournaments standings to see how you place in the tournament, and also choose to enter an additional time if this is possible.

For a Completed tournament the winners have been declared and the prizes are displayed in the tournament results. The winners will usually receive the cash prizes on their account within a few minutes after the tournament has closed.

Calculating prizes

The prize displayed shows the total prize that will divided amongst all the winners of that tournament. For Jewel tournaments the prize is Jewels, and for Money tournament the prizes are real money that can be withdrawn.

In most tournaments the top 33% of the players will get a prize, so if there are more than 3 players there will be more than one winner.

In the Top Winner jackpots, there is a fixed number of winners, regardless of how many players participate in the tournament.

In the Everybody Wins Tournaments, all players will receive a prize. The total prize amount is the same as for regular cash tournaments.

King.com allows you to play Jewel tournaments free of charges, but for real Money tournaments King.com charges a management fee which comprises of approximately 25% of the entry costs (except in the Top Winner jackpots, where the fee depends on the amount of players who participate). We do this to be able to guarantee you the best possible quality and game experience.

Jewels

Jewels are special rewards given to Gold Players, Club Players and Members. When you play tournaments or complete certain tasks; such as collecting Awards or reaching high skill levels in the different games, you will receive jewels. The more jewels you collect, the more avatar items and features will be available to you. Jewels cannot be spent, so once you have reached a level, you will benefit from its bonuses forever.

Getting jewels

There are 3 main ways to earn jewels :

  • Playing tournaments
  • Reaching certain ranking levels in all games
  • Collecting Awards in all games

For a tournament, it will be listed in the tournament description how many jewels you get for playing. Please note that the jewels are only given out after the tournament has ended, so you will not get jewels added to your account immediately after playing. Cash tournaments give a substantially higher amount of jewels than free tournaments.

In the Awards section of your profile you can see how many jewels you earn for claiming the next award for each game. The later awards will of course give much higher reward.

When you reach a ranking of 4000 and become a King or Queen you will get an extra jewel bonus. You will also receive extra jewels for reaching 6000, 8000, 10000, 15000 or 20000 in a game.

Jewels may also be given out for certain other activities in the community. You will be notified when you earn extra bonus jewels.

Cup tournaments

Cup tournaments are series of one-on-one matches, where the winner proceeds to the next round. In each round, part of the entry cost is awarded to the winner, and the rest is saved for the later rounds, which pay a lot more. This means that you only pay an entry cost for the first round of the tournament.

When you have won a match, you will soon be matched against a new opponent for the next round. When the match is ready to be played, you must play within a certain time limit, otherwise your opponent will win by Walk Over (WO).

If two players draw in the first round of the tournament, they are both refunded. If two players draw at a later stage of the tournament, they will both get another try until one of them wins.

You can play more than one entry in the larger cups. In the smaller cups, you are limited to one entry to avoid being matched against yourself. This means that, it is possible to play against yourself in the larger cups, but considering the huge amount of players playing the larger cups, this risk is rather small.

Unfortunately, we have no possibility to change the outcome of a round that has already been played. This means that if you get disconnected due to technical difficulties, your entry is forfeited, and you cannot replay your current round.

Royal Cups

The largest Cup tournaments are called Royal Cups. In Royal Cups, players of all rankings will partake in one big Cup, so there are no ranking limitations. The winner of a Royal Cup will receive a special Crown that their avatar will be able to wear until a new Royal Cup of the same game is played. If you make it to the quarter finals of a Royal Cup, you will get a crest to be displayed on your personal profile.

The Crown

Treasure Quest

A Treasure Quest is held in 2 or more games at the same time. Each tournament that is completed after the Treasure Quest starts and before it ends can give you points. Every time you win money in a tournament (except challenges), you get 100 points. Every Euro cent (or the equivalent in your currency) you win will give you 1 extra point. Example: You win a 2-player game with a 1 Euro stake. You will receive 250 points, 100 for the win and 150 for the 150 Euro cents you won. When the Treasure Quest ends, prizes will be paid out according to the prize table. The prizes are set from the start and does not change during the Treasure Quest.

Star Hunts

In a Star Hunt, you only compete against yourself. In each game, there are 5 stars for you to collect by scoring high enough. You can get more than one star for a single game, but you can only get each star once. Star Hunts are not considered regular tournaments, which means that they will not add to your Awards, Diplomas or any collectible items in the game.
